Worldwide, 1,700 people lose their lives every week due to Covid-19, according to data revealed this Thursday by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The director-general of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is calling on the population at risk to get vaccinated against the disease.

According to the international press, despite the number of deaths, "the data shows that vaccination coverage has fallen among health workers and people over 60, two of the groups most at risk," lamented the head of the UN agency during a press conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
"The WHO recommends that people in the highest risk groups receive a Covid-19 vaccine within 12 months of their last dose," he said.
