Cidade da Beira acolhe a 6.ª edição da Légua de atletismo em Julho

The provincial capital of Sofala, Beira, will host the 6th edition of the athletics Légua on July 20, which will run for 7.2 kilometers. The event was launched yesterday, Wednesday (19) and is organized by the Sofala Provincial Athletics Association (APAS) in partnership with Cornelder Mozambique.

According to the organizers, registration begins tomorrow, Friday, and ends on July 12 at the APAS facilities in the Beira Sports Pavilion.

On the occasion, APAS secretary-general Titos Mulinga assured us that the technical issues have been taken care of. "This year we will also have digital registration, which will prevent someone from registering in two categories in real time, for example," he said.

For his part, the managing director of Cornelder Mozambique, Jan de Vries, said that this year's Légua da Beira should involve a total of 3,750 athletes, which represents an increase of 250 participants compared to the 2023 edition.

"This is the official figure, because it is known that there are many more people who run on this day just for their health (not being among those registered)," he said.
