Maputo: Joint command of subunits reactivated to stop drug circulation

Maputo: Reativado o comando conjunto de subunidades para estancar circulação de drogas

Municipal authorities in the town of Boane, Maputo province, have reactivated a joint command of police subunits to stem the wave of drug circulation in the region, according to Rádio Mocambique.

The measure, according to the president of Boane's municipal council, comes in the wake of a growing trend in recent days of drug sales and consumption in the municipal town.

Geraldina Bonifácio, who revealed the fact to Rádio Moçambique, explained that the reactivated joint command subunits should position themselves at the main entrances and exits to the district, with a view to neutralizing alleged traffickers.

The source stressed that the joint command's sub-units also have the mission of supporting the municipality in its efforts to combat night-time construction in some neighborhoods, a phenomenon that has been occurring with some frequency recently.
