Aiming to restore the freedom to enjoy green spaces in the Mozambican capital, the mayor, Rasaque Manhique, has ordered the suspension of prohibitive measures imposed by his predecessor, Eneas Comiche, on the use of the Tunduro botanical garden.
The municipality believes that Comiche's impositions have driven residents away from the Tunduro Garden.
"The garden should be easily accessible to users, so that's why we've taken these measures to create better conditions," said Rasaque Manhique.
Of the nine measures imposed by Comiche, Rasaque Manhique has dropped six. As a result, picnics, physical exercise, resting on benches, walking animals, cycling and smoking tobacco are now allowed again.
