Heineken Moçambique, sponsor of the UEFA European Football Champions League, will provide soccer lovers with a special atmosphere in the city of Maputo to watch the final of the competition on June 1st. And the stage chosen to host the emotions of this prestigious competition is the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center (CCFM).
After nearly nine months of competition, the so-called millionaire's league comes to an end with the final match being played at the legendary Wembley stadium in London, UK. This is the eighth time that the magnificent stadium has hosted the final of this major competition on the world sporting calendar.
The celebration of the final in Maputo, according to the organizers, is part of a global action by the Group, in a year when attention is focused on the "true fans" of what is considered the premier race on the European continent.
"The UEFA Champions League is a legendary competition and is present on every continent. As is tradition, we've decided once again to bring lovers of this iconic competition together to experience the emotions of the grand final up close. This year, we want to celebrate the true fans. Those who vibrate at every turn and express their emotions with vigor, vivacity and genuine passion. For us, these are the people who give meaning and make the Champions League a symbol of unquestionable success. Our commitment to sport, with an emphasis on soccer, transcends borders," said Filipa Neves, Marketing Director of Heineken Mozambique.
According to her, the Champions League final events traditionally take place in Maputo, and last year the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center, under a memorandum of understanding with HEINEKEN Mozambique, was the cathedral of another epic final, an initiative that brought together just over 950 people.
In 2022, the Dutch multinational took the Champions League trophy to the streets of Maputo for the first time, as part of its Trophy Tour initiative, which has also visited cities such as Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo); Addis Ababa (Ethiopia); and Lagos - Abuja (Nigeria).
In all, 32 teams, divided into 8 groups, competed for the coveted trophy. The teams that finished well in their respective national championships the previous season took part in the competition.
