A team of internationally renowned doctors from Lisbon, Portugal, brought hope and expertise to the city of Quelimane. Headed by Dr. Graça Oliveira, a respected pediatrician from the Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon, and Gonçalves Lobo, a master in Public Health, the team was warmly welcomed by the Quelimane Municipality for an important mission: to improve local health services.
In an audience this Monday (April 22) with the substitute for the Mayor, Maria Moreno, they discussed strategies for collaboration and the exchange of knowledge in the critical areas of mental health, psychiatry and maternal and child health. The city council's openness and receptiveness highlight the mutual commitment towards a more robust and effective health system in the city.
First thing in the morning, the medical team, in collaboration with the Quelimane Municipality's joint brigade, led by Dr. Silvia Soares, First Lady of the Municipality, and Health and Social Action Councillor Renato Silva, visited the Foundation for the Support of Children with Disabilities (FACD). This visit not only demonstrated the commitment to the well-being of children in the region, but also marked the beginning of a solid partnership in favor of public health.
In addition, a meeting is scheduled with various local associations related to health and social action, reinforcing the shared commitment to raising the quality of life of the local community. This collaboration promises to bring tangible and lasting benefits to the inhabitants of Quelimane, consolidating ties between Portugal and Mozambique in favor of health and well-being.
