One hundred and five gambling machines, commonly known as "xindondi", were incinerated this week in Bairro Siduava, in Matola, by the Municipal Police and the National Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE).
The spokesman for the Matola Municipal Police, Sérgio Bavo, said, quoted by the newspaper NewsHe added that "the machines were seized at the Infulene and Machava administrative posts, but the operational activities cover all the municipality's neighborhoods".
"Most of this material, which is harmful to the mental health of children, adolescents and young people, was seized in the Patrice Lumumba, T3 and Machava-Bedene neighborhoods, near schools," explained the municipal police spokesman.
The source did, however, acknowledge the existence of machines scattered in various neighborhoods which, in his opinion, can be controlled by denouncing them, destroying them continuously and inhibiting their importation.
In the meantime, Bavo defended the need for accurate and coordinated work to identify the source of the material, which has been creating an addiction for individuals from different social classes, ages and genders, leading to suicides.
