The central and northern areas of Mozambique may experience torrential rain from today, the National Meteorological Institute (INAM) said.
According to the forecasts, the water could exceed 50 millimeters in 24 hours, which could cause flooding in the most vulnerable areas.
The rain will be accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in the provinces of Niassa, Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Zambézia, Sofala and Manica.
For the provinces of Maputo, Gaza and Inhambane, INAM indicates that from today onwards the rain will tend to slow down, with the possibility of light rain in some areas.
About 72 hours ago, the cities of Maputo and Matola experienced moderate to heavy rainfall for long hours. Houses were submerged, neighborhoods were impassable, craters opened up, roads and ditches were destroyed and public and private institutions were closed, including schools and health units.
