The Renamo party may have won the October 2023 local elections in seven municipalities, according to a report based on a parallel vote count.

In addition to the municipalities of Vilankulo, Quelimane, Alto Molocué and Chiúre, the Election Bulletin of the Center for Public Integrity points to Renamo's victory in four more municipalities, namely Maputo, Matola, Marromeu and Nampula. In the parallel count, Frelimo won in Alto Molocué. Officially, Renamo won in those first four municipalities.

The document puts forward the idea of discrediting the real information on the election results, which may or may not give Renamo victory.

"So what results should we believe? The National Electoral Commission said that Renamo won 0 municipalities, the Constitutional Council said 4, and the parallel counts said 7," he asks.

The document also shows that, despite all the efforts to restore the electoral truth, the data was manipulated in order to maintain Frelimo's hegemony in Maputo, Matola, Marromeu and Nampula. Read the document...
