HCB PCA accused of nepotism

Renamo MP António Muchanga accuses the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Power Plant, Tomas Matola, of appointing his brother to the post of Director of Hydrology and Dam Safety, without the competence to do so.

Muchanga, quoted by Integrity, says that Matola not only appointed his brother, but also brought his brother's friends, who are part of their family's estique group, to HCB.

The Muchanga MP's accusations go further and according to him, the PCA's brother, who runs and disorganizes the company, removed the Human Resources Director who had been with the company for 15 years and put in a friend who is hiring without a public tender at the behest of the PCA himself.

Still quoted by Integrity, Muchanga says that "there was a beauty contest at the local school, where the daughter of the PCA's brother competed, but she lost, because she is not a beauty, the matter was discussed with the President of the Jury who is a teacher at the school.

The daughter of the PCA's brother didn't win and the professor, the president of the jury, was sacrificed because he didn't protect the daughter of the PCA's brother, who boasts of being a friend of the President of the Republic.

Muchanga's accusations were made yesterday (13.03) during the IX Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Republic (AR), which focused on examining the government's information in the questions and answers component.
