Parliament to review PRM and SERNIC law

Assembleia da República vai rever Lei da PRM e SERNIC

The Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, said on Wednesday in Maputo that the government would soon submit to parliament a proposal to revise the Law on the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) and the National Criminal Investigation Service (PRM).

The Executive's idea is to strengthen the institutional and operational capacities of these forces in terms of preventing and combating crime.

The revision proposals were approved on Tuesday by the Council of Ministers. They seek to strengthen the PRM and SERNIC in the areas of criminal investigation and prosecution of crimes, with a greater focus on kidnappings, kidnappings, money laundering, terrorist financing and asset recovery.

Speaking at the Government Question Time, the Prime Minister called for collaboration with the police to stop acts that harm public tranquillity.

He pointed out that organized and transnational crime is also among the types of crimes to be combated due to its negative impact on society and the country's economy.
