Hamas and Israel have agreed on the "basic points" for a 40-day truce, writes the international press, citing Palestinian and Egyptian sources.

So far, according to the Spanish news agency EFE, the parties have reached an agreement in which the truce lasts 40 days, a period in which 40 Israeli hostages, including women, children and men over 60, are released in exchange for 404 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.

The Palestinian and Egyptian sources asked not to be identified, as negotiations are still ongoing in the Egyptian capital.
