The Mozambican government is not going to request the extradition of Ana Massuanganhe, the private secretary of the Deputy Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, who was arrested last month in India for drug trafficking.
The position was put forward by the Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Helena Kida, who justifies the decision by the fact that there is no extradition agreement with India.
"It's not because she's Ana Massuanganhe. We don't have an extradition agreement with India, so there's no way to materialize or make it viable. We don't even have one and so, as I was saying, at this point, the Indian state is going to know what it's going to do and we're going to watch", said Helena Kida, quoted by RFI.
Ana Massuanganhe, an official in Mozambique's Ministry of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs and private secretary to Filimão Suaze, deputy minister of Justice and government spokesperson, was arrested in India on January 8 of this year, when she was on vacation.
