Cornelder de Moçambique (CdM) and Clube Ferroviário da Beira (CFvB) recently signed a partnership agreement in the city of Beira, Sofala province, aimed at strengthening the club's working conditions in the various sports disciplines practiced.
To this end, CdM will invest a total of 160,000 US dollars over the next two years, which corresponds to 80,000 dollars a year between 2024 and 2025.
Under this agreement, the concessionaire may also grant,
r the CFvB other non-monetary support, namely equipment, various sports equipment and logistical support for sporting events, with a focus on basketball and soccer, given that the latter will be competing in African competitions this year.
During the ceremony, CdM's deputy managing director, António Libombo, said that as part of its social responsibility, Cornelder has recently been increasing its support for sport.
As an example, he mentioned the fact that earlier this year he supported the Mambas in their participation in the African Nations Championship (CAN), which took place in Ivory Coast.
He added that CdM has contributed to the search for new talent by holding mini-basketball tournaments in Sofala, with the possibility of young players entering the professional ranks.
For his part, the president of CFvB, Valdemar de Oliveira, thanked CdM for its support, which can help the club to experience "more glorious moments", as well as projecting more Mozambican athletes to other levels.
"With CdM's support, there's a growing promise that we'll have more Reinildos and Gildos at the club, because there are talents coming through. This support will give us a huge boost, especially in a year when we'll be taking part in African soccer competitions," said Valdemar de Oliveira.
It should be noted that Ferroviário da Beira won the Moçambola in 2023, just as they did in 2016. In basketball, in the men's senior category, Ferroviário da Beira came third in the National Championship.
It should be noted that CdM has been supporting the CFvB intermittently for years, but has now decided to do so in a more structured way.
