Around 480 families who fled the terrorist attacks in the province of Cabo Delgado and took refuge in Niassa have been receiving food assistance since yesterday, Wednesday, as part of a World Food Program (WFP) program implemented by the Christian Council of Mozambique (CCM) in partnership with the provincial Executive Council.

"Today we symbolize the start of this food assistance programme for the displaced people from Cabo Delgado, who are resettled in our province," said the governor of Niassa, Judite Mussagela, in her speech on the occasion.

According to Revista Terra, the displaced people received various food products, including 50 kg of rice, 10 kg of beans and cooking oil, in an initiative that is expected to continue.

"We know that food won't solve the population's big problems, but it will minimize the small problems of our brothers and sisters," she stressed, and then appealed to the resettled people not to wait for donations, but to invest in growing fields for production. Save your food for the harvest, because you don't know tomorrow," she urged.
