Alberto Simango Jr. promised this Wednesday, during the submission of his candidacy for the presidency of the Mozambican Football League (LMF) for the 2024-2028 quadrennium, to raise the prize for the national champion from 600,000 to 5 million meticais.
"If I win the elections, the prize money for Moçambola-2025 will rise from 600,000 to 5 million meticais. Second place will receive 2 million and third place will receive 1 million meticais," said Simango, quoted by the newspaper Desafio.
In addition, Simango, who led the LMF for two terms, plans to bring the country's biggest soccer competition back to 14 teams.
"By 2025 our proposal is to increase the number of clubs competing in Moçambola to 14," Simango Jr. added, and addressed the issue of the return of the League Cup later this year.
