Uterine cancer: Four million adolescents to be vaccinated nationwide

Four million teenagers aged 10 to 18 will be the target of a vaccination campaign against cervical cancer in the second half of this year across the country, an official source said.

The director of the Expanded Vaccination Program (PAV), Leonildo Nhampossa, said, as quoted by Noticias, that a single dose will be used, as opposed to the previous two, because its effectiveness has been proven.

"Our plan is to carry out a multi-age campaign, from 10 to 18 years old, and then we'll go back to a single dose for nine-year-olds," he told the newspaper, adding that the measure allows us to reach more girls and teenagers in the risk group for the cancer-causing Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

The campaign is expected to last a week.
