Launch Session Promotes sustainable creations by young talents

More than 100 national and up to 14 international designers will take part in the 19th edition of the country's biggest fashion event, Mozambique Fashion Week.

The annual event was officially launched on Wednesday, extolling the pillars of sustainable creation, promoting talent and building brands that project Mozambican fashion.

Under the slogan 'Kings and Queens: the Throne is Yours', the launch session exuded some of what is expected for 2023, the space was dominated by looks iconic, creativity, differentiation and resilience in the construction of fashion collections.

On the occasion, the General Manager of DDB Mozambique, the organizer of Mozambique Fashion Week, Vasco Rocha, pointed out that "Mozambique Fashion Week is a journey of transformation and passion, this event transcends the barriers of fashion.

We have found a space that tells the story of our nation, a story of constant evolution and overcoming. Here, fashion is not merely a skillfully sewn fabric, but a reflection of our entrepreneurship, opportunity, education and a true testament to our innovation, transformation, inclusion and diversity."

For her part, the representative of Absa Bank Mozambique, the event's main sponsor, Tânia Oliveira, said: "We believe that there is no doubt for everyone here that Mozambique Fashion Week has contributed and continues to contribute to the growth of the fashion industry in Mozambique, generating unique, innovative and sustainable opportunities for fashionistas and the entire fashion ecosystem."

Mozambique Fashion Week will take place from December 4 to 10 at the Port of Maputo.
