Mozambican international Geny Catamo scored his first official goal in the Sporting jersey as they won yesterday at Olivais e Moscavide, in the fifth division, in the first round of the Portuguese Cup.
The 22-year-old Mozambican winger came on at the start of the second half in place of Fresneda. The "lions" were tied at one and turned the game around in the 52nd minute, when the Olivais defender cleared the ball off his head and it fell to Geny, who shot into the back of the net.
In the 68th minute, the "Mambas" number 20 came close to a second goal, but the Olivais goalkeeper saved a corner kick. Just when it looked like the game was over, Geny Catamo, in the 90'+4th minute, received a ball from Trincão down the right flank, outwitted the goalkeeper and assisted Daniel Bragança to make it 3-1.
At the end of the match, Geny was naturally considered the man of the match, having said that "our aim is to win the Cup, we're going to keep going".
"It was what we expected, a difficult game, but we managed to win, which is what we wanted. Our aim is to win the Cup, and we're going to keep going. We've passed this stage, we're going to prepare for the next one, focused on the objective of winning the Cup," said the Mozambican international.
