Members of the Angolan parliament are due to discuss the removal of the current president of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, in plenary session on Saturday.
According to the Angolan press, this call follows a proposal to dismiss the Angolan National Assembly submitted on Thursday by the parliamentary caucus of UNITA, the main opposition party in Angola.
The deputies and members of the standing committee are due to meet today to assess UNITA's proposal.
The standing committee is the body of the National Assembly that replaces parliament between the end and beginning of each legislature, and when parliament is not in full session. One of its functions is to convene extraordinary assemblies.
