The manufacturing industry recorded an increase of 15.6% in the second quarter of this year, compared to the previous period, rising from 321.4 million to 371.8 million dollars, according to a report by the Bank of Mozambique.
The data contained in the monthly report recently released by the Bank of Mozambique (BM), and quoted by the portal Profile, indicate that growth was essentially supported by exports of aluminum bars and aluminum cables.
In the period in question, the country earned 310 million dollars from the export of aluminum bars, compared to 255.3 million dollars previously.
Meanwhile, aluminum cables enabled the country to pocket 42.7 million dollars in the second quarter, compared to 39.1 million in the previous period.
Also in the same category, sugar, cashew nuts and sunflower oil saw revenues fall by 500,000 dollars, 6.1 and 2.7 million dollars respectively in the period under review.
