The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) arrested a young man in the Manga neighborhood on charges of stealing electricity cables from the company Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM).
The spokesman for the PRM in Sofala, Dércio Chacate, was quoted by "Notícias" as saying that the arrest was the result of a popular complaint.
"The police immediately carried out a raid, following which two individuals were found in possession of the material, but one fled," said the source.
At the moment, according to the spokesman, the police are working to locate and neutralize the second member of the group. The stolen material has already been returned to EDM.
It should be noted that in recent months EDM has suffered heavy losses, which are also associated with thefts and damage to electrical cables all over the country.
