The Beira City Council has mobilized international partnerships that have guaranteed the construction of 200,000 homes in the city.

Saudi Arabian investors visited the city last Friday and promised to channel financial support into building climate-resilient housing.

The plan includes reopening the road that gives access to Porto da Beira, to reduce vehicle congestion in the Munhava area.

"I'm happy. The municipality asked for funding to build 25,000 resilient homes and, in response, the Saudi investors have assured us that they will finance the construction of more than 100,000 homes," said the mayor of Beira, Albano Carige, after a meeting between the municipality, the investors and Cornelder, the port's manager.

The representative of Saudi businessmen has guaranteed that he will mobilize technical, financial and material resources from various parts of the world to make the project to build 200,000 houses a reality.

"We have embraced the project and the plan to build the houses, but we also have partnership solutions in which we will take on local manufacturers capable of building a house in two weeks. This means that the two hundred thousand houses can be built in a short time, it could be a year or two, depending on local conditions," said Farzam Kamalabadi, head of the investors' mission.
