Correction: Thai Moçambique Logística already has 500 million dollars to move forward with the Port of Macuse in 2024

Thai Moçambique Logística (TML) is due to start building the Port of Macuse, in Zambézia province, by January 2024, a company official told MZNews. The company already has 500 million dollars available to start the plan.

This information was shared on Monday (and corrected today by TML) as part of the launch ceremonies for the Macuse-Chitima Iron Port Complex project, which has a budget of more than 2.7 billion dollars.

The port's quay will occupy an area of 700 meters, with the capacity to dock ships of 60,000 tons. It will employ around 8,000 Mozambicans, among others.

The source said that the project will be able to serve all its customers and operate general cargo, with the first phase being able to work with liquid cargo and, as time and demand progress, introduce solid cargo.

Local companies are called upon to embrace the project and be the main suppliers of raw materials.

Note: This article was updated at 11:21 a.m. on Thursday (14) to correct, among other things, the previous information that a Dry Port will be built in Macuse. TML. In fact, TML is going to build a port in Macuse. The project is due to start by January 2024, not the middle of that year.
