In the match played at the Zimpeto National Stadium, Benin opened the scoring in the 20th minute through a penalty converted by captain Stive Monie.
However, the Mambas responded with two goals in quick succession, the first in the 28th minute through Wity and Guima to make it 2-1, which held until half-time.
Nevertheless, Benin equalized in the 52nd minute through Jodel Doussou. However, as the lights went out (90+5), Clésio made it 3-2.
With this result, Mozambique is back in the CAN after finishing second in Group L behind Senegal.
