Today in Nairobi, President Filipe Nyusi highlighted the "fundamental importance" of the Africa Climate Action Summit, which is taking place in Kenya, and recalled the consequences that the country is already experiencing.
"This meeting is of fundamental importance for the continent in a context in which the effects of climate change are being felt more intensely, particularly in our country, which is cyclically shaken by extreme events," said Filipe Nyusi on his arrival for the summit.
As of today, Filipe Nyusi is taking part in the Africa Climate Action Summit, which is taking place in Kenya and brings together more than 20 heads of state.
"We will use this event as an opportunity to gather the various experiences in managing phenomena resulting from climate change, but also to show our position, as Mozambique, on this reality, which is increasingly worrying for the security of peoples," he said.
The event, organized by the African Union and the Kenyan government, will bring together African heads of state and government and other world leaders, "in a debate focusing on climate change, renewable energies and the development of the blue economy," the Presidency of the Republic of Mozambique previously explained.
Mozambique is considered one of the countries most severely affected by climate change in the world, facing cyclical floods and tropical cyclones during the rainy season, which runs from October to April. (Lusa)
