Sofala: 125 million meticais approved for fishermen affected by natural disasters

The Sofala provincial government has approved an investment portfolio of around 125 million Meticais. The amount approved is intended to finance economic recovery projects for fishermen affected by natural disasters.

The provincial delegate of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Institute in Sofala, Isidro Ntave, was quoted by Radio Mozambique as saying that more than half of the amount, which will be disbursed starting next month, will be used to purchase vehicles for transporting fish, cold storage systems and motorization of boats.

According to the source, a little over 500 projects are expected to be covered in the first phase, with priority being given to artisanal fishermen.
