Governador da província de Maputo eleito cabeça de lista da Frelimo para autárquicas de Outubro

The current Governor of Maputo province, Júlio Parruque, was unanimously elected today as the head of the Frelimo party list to run in the local elections on October 11.

Parruque, elected with 100% of the votes, was in fact the only candidate in the internal elections given the withdrawal of the current mayor of the city of Matola, Calisto Cossa, who, less than three months ago, withdrew, awarded a public tender worth more than 500 million meticais for the acquisition of a municipal management system. Parruque's other opponent was Beatriz Nhaulau, who also withdrew from running in the internal elections.

The party is holding internal elections today to elect all the candidates for all the municipalities in the country.

In Marracuene, the current mayor was re-elected with 72% of the votes. He was running against two other candidates, José de Sousa (0%) and Francisco Mabjaia (28%), who was once the party's first secretary in Maputo province and deputy minister for the coordination of environmental action.

"I still haven't done much in Marracuene. Ten percent or less," said Shafee Sidat, the mayor of Marracuene.

In Maputo city, three candidates ran for the head of the list: Izilda Zandamela, Edgar Muchanga and Razaque Manhique. The latter was the winner.
