The national flag carrier, LAM - Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique S.A., may resume flights on the Maputo/Lisbon/Maputo route from next August.
The information was announced today (13) during a meeting between the airline and the Mozambican Ambassador to Portugal, Joaquim Bule, with a view to sharing the preparations underway.
At the meeting, LAM revealed that it is in the process of obtaining authorizations in Portugal to start flights, having sent a delegation to Lisbon to make a series of contacts this week.
For his part, the Ambassador praised LAM's commitment to resuming flights to Lisbon and expressed his openness to supporting the company in the steps being taken to start operations.
"We are very pleased to hear that LAM will be resuming flights to Portugal, where we have a significant Mozambican community and strong cultural and historical ties. We are open and willing to help make these flights a reality." - said the Ambassador, quoted in a note that we had access to.
