MISAU promises to pay doctors overtime from this month

The Ministry of Health (MISAU) says it is working to resolve the concerns of the national medical profession and has promised to pay health professionals overtime up to 2020 this month. Next month it is due to pay the overtime arrears for 2022 and 2023.

Other outstanding payments will be made throughout the year.

"With regard to the delay in the payment of overtime, the government has already informed the Medical Association that, in July, the debt for overtime up to 2020 will be paid. Therefore, as of August, the overtime for 2022 and 2023 will be paid," said the Deputy National Director of Human Resources at the MISAU, Manuel Macebe, quoted by Radio Mozambique.

He stressed that the demands of the medical profession are essentially of a financial nature, and called on doctors to value the motto of the MoH.

"Our appeal to the doctors is to continue to work with the Ministry of Health and the government so that we can jointly overcome these issues," he said.
