Eleven people lost their lives and eight were injured in a road accident that took place this morning (28) in the area of Lionde, Chokwe district, Gaza province.
According to RM, the accident involved a semi-collective passenger transport vehicle, which was on the Chókwè-Macia route and was caused by the bursting of one of the rear tires, which projected the vehicle into the irrigation canal, located on the side of the road
The spokesman for the Police of the Republic of Mozambique in Gaza, Júlio Nhamússua, said that the deaths were caused by drowning and that the identification of the bodies is currently underway at the morgue of the Chókwè Rural Hospital.
Júlio Nhamússua also points to a burst tire and excessive speed as the causes of the accident.
The source calls on motorists to check the mechanical condition of their vehicles more closely and to comply with the rules governing road traffic.
