Minister of the Interior demands celerity in issuing and delivering identity cards

Ministra do Interior exige celeridade na emissão e entrega de bilhetes de identidade

The Minister of the Interior, Arsénia Massingue, is demanding that the new deputy national director of Civil Identification reduce the time it takes to issue and deliver identity cards (IDs)..

Arsénia Massingue was speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of officials from the interior ministry, including Mário Chirindza, for the area in question.

According to the minister, the Civil Identification sector has improved over time, but the floods that still occur make her unhappy, which is why she is calling on the new board to work harder in this direction.

"We've seen improvements in service and, above all, a reduction in the number of people flooding into the service points. But we're still not satisfied. Our aim must be, on the one hand, to make the service process more flexible and, on the other, to reduce the time it takes to issue and deliver the ID card to the applicant," said the minister, quoted by AIM.

She also demanded that the newly appointed professional reduce the time it takes to issue and deliver the identification document, as well as combating its illegal acquisition.

"The identity card should not be a document that takes more than 15 days to acquire. I challenge you to reduce the time it takes to issue and deliver this extremely important document," he said.

The minister stressed that "we want the National Directorate of Civil Identification to step up internal surveillance and improve the process of sorting requests".

Massingue also demanded "strict compliance with the law and procedures, austerity and cost containment, as well as a reduction in direct agreements, which should be limited to strictly necessary cases".

Greater speed in strict compliance with the law and dynamism in the processes leading to the provision of goods and services are, for the minister, of an urgent nature that cannot be matched by slowness.
