The German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GIZ) will support the Mozambican government in training around 300 young people in entrepreneurship, as a way of promoting self-employment in the areas of industry and commerce in the province of Manica.
This initiative, which will be implemented later this year, will initially target young people who are mostly female. Out of a total of 300 beneficiaries, 70% are women and the rest are men.
"We want to create opportunities for young people and the ultimate goal is to leverage and relieve them of the economic crisis they are facing," said GIZ's national coordinator, Belina Pene, who was speaking recently in Chimoio at a meeting with the provincial government, during which some aspects related to youth employability were discussed.
Quoted by AIM, the source said that in order for the initiative to succeed, GIZ and the government will survey groups of young beneficiaries and some small and medium-sized companies where the training will take place.
To this end, in the near future this organization will set up an incubator, called the Green Economy Incubator, where young people will benefit from various training courses, especially in the processing of agricultural products.
"It's a green economy incubator with three phases of training or support for young people, from basic business aspects, through incubation to graduation in the local socio-economic context, relevant sectoral policies, as well as operational aspects, from the government's perspective," explained Belina Pene.
