Quelimane mayor abandons census office due to disorganization

Edil de Quelimane abandona posto de recenseamento devido a desorganização

The Mayor of Quelimane, in Zambezia, Manuel de Araújo, on Friday abandoned the voter registration office located at Coalane Primary School, on the outskirts of the city, where he wanted to obtain his voter registration card, which would give him the right to vote and be elected.

The reason for Manuel de Araújo's abandonment of the census office was due to weariness and indignation at the way the process is being conducted and the numerous irregularities found there and witnessed by some residents, especially the women who were there.

"According to the women, some of them elderly, they arrived at the site at 3am, after several failed attempts, to process their voter registration cards, but until the mayor arrived, no water came or went, an unequivocal certainty of disorder, sabotage, disruption, lack of respect and incompetence in the process," reads the mayor's social page.

Voter registration began three weeks ago in response to the municipal elections scheduled for October 11 this year.
