This Thursday, the Minister for the Sea, Inland Waterways and Fisheries said that some entities had failed to comply with the law when allocating space for housing in dunes and mangrove areas.
The government's statement comes after it was noted that in some regions of the country, there are more and more cases of housing being allocated in dunes and mangrove areas.
Speaking this Wednesday on the first day of her working visit to Maputo province, where she witnessed the status of the mangrove repopulation project on the seafront, the Minister for the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries explained that "this fact calls into question the government's efforts to repopulate the mangrove, in order to guarantee the marine ecosystem".
On the occasion, Lídia Cardoso also explained that in view of the scenario of allocating space for housing in dunes and Mangal areas, the sector already has a project to raise awareness among all those involved in the process.
The Minister for the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries also said that as part of the guarantee of the marine ecosystem, the country had met its target of planting 5,000 hectares of mangroves in devastated areas by 2022.
