“Há duas Universidades ilegais a operar em Maputo e Nampula”, alertam autoridades

The government, through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (MCTES), has made public the existence of two higher education institutions that are not legally registered and authorized to operate in the country.

According to the source, the exercise of these institutions "amounts to swindling the citizen, with criminal repercussions".

These are the Universidade Nova da Matola, in Maputo province, and the International Open University (IOU), in the Angoche district of Nampula. In this context, the competent authorities have been notified to activate mechanisms to hold the perpetrators accountable.

The MCTES statement comes in response to information that has been circulating on social media about the opening of applications and enrollment for various courses at these two supposed institutions.
