Malaria rates have been rising year after year in the country. Data presented yesterday in Maputo by the Ministry of Health indicates that in 2021 alone the country recorded 11 million cases of malaria with 409 deaths.
In 2022, according to the same source, the number of infections rose to 12 million and there were around 428 deaths from malaria.
According to the representative of the Ministry of Health, Mércia Dimene, who was speaking yesterday during a workshop on combating the disease, the provinces of Zambézia, Cabo Delgado and Nampula have the highest rates due to the bad weather.
