"LAM went bankrupt because Frelimo cadres didn't pay for tickets", Augusto Pelembe

“LAM faliu porque quadros da Frelimo não pagam bilhetes”, Augusto Pelembe

Things have not been going well for a long time at Mozambique Airlines (LAM), with breakdowns, suffocating debts, delays and other problems terrorizing the national flag carrier.

The mismanagement by the "LAM administrators" has led some academics to suggest privatizing the company in order to improve its operation and regain international prestige.

Meanwhile, in yesterday's edition of the program Visão Política, broadcast on TV Sucesso, the member of the Movimento Democrático Moçambique (MDM) party, Augusto dos Santos Pelembe, said that last Friday he traveled to the city of Beira at around 8pm, using one of the LAM planes, where he witnessed the head of the Frelimo Central Brigade, Margarida Talapa, inviting Frelimo members who were in economy class to go to business class without having to pay any additional fee.

"I was in business class with the head of the Frelimo Central Brigade, Margarida Talapa. And on the same plane there were some Frelimo party members sitting in economy class, when Talapa called for everyone to sit in business class, and one of the members said that in order to do so they should talk to the crew, and in response Margarida said that there was no need to talk to them, because we are in charge here, this is ours," said Augusto dos Santos Pelembe.

In another approach, Augusto Pelembe went further, saying that Mozambique Airlines went bankrupt because many Frelimo members don't pay for tickets.

"If Mozambique Airlines has gone bankrupt today, it's because many Frelimo members don't pay for tickets. The taxes and high fees we pay are to support a bunch of people who live like Frenchwomen, at the expense of Mozambicans," said Pelembe. (Mozmassokonews)
