More than 1,800 tons of cargo were exported last year from the port of Quelimane in Zambézia.
The cargo is being handled after the dredging of the access channel to the port infrastructure was carried out in 2021 by the Ports and Railways of Mozambique.
The dredging of the port cost around two point seven million dollars, the equivalent of around one hundred and twenty-seven million Meticais.
The CFM delegate in Zambézia, Agostinho Conde, told Rádio Moçambique that the use of the port of Quelimane for exports and imports is low.
Quelimane's port has an annual capacity to handle more than 45 thousand tons.
The Secretary of State in Zambézia, Cristina Mafumo, advocated permanent dialogue with local businesspeople with a view to exploiting the port's capacity.
