Moçambique está em “transformação estrutural” para uma economia diversificada

President Filipe Nyusi said today that Mozambique is undergoing a "structural transformation" towards a diversified economy, highlighting foreign investment as fundamental to the process.

"Mozambique is in the process of structurally transforming its economy, expanding and diversifying its productive base within the framework of the National Development Strategy, with the aim of boosting development and raising the living conditions of the population," said Filipe Nyusi.

The Mozambican head of state was speaking during the inaugural session of the "Voices of the South" global summit, which was held virtually.

Within the framework of strategies to improve the lives of Mozambicans, the head of state continued, international cooperation is fundamental, as the African country has potential in several areas, particularly in the extractive industry and energy.

"We are very interested in developing and strengthening international cooperation, productive partnerships that contribute to adding value, transforming resources within the country and accelerating economic growth in the country and globally," he added.

According to the head of state, investing in strategies to strengthen human resources is a priority, as is the development of production infrastructures.

"It is Mozambique's wish to see increased investment and access to financial and technological resources centered on the development of human resources," concluded Filipe Nyusi.

The summit, which was attended by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, brought together leaders from "countries that share a historical legacy, marked by various scourges, including independence struggles", according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic. (Lusa)
