Exports from Portuguese-speaking countries to Macau rise 49%

Exports of goods from Portuguese-speaking countries to Macau rose by 49% in the first eleven months of the year, compared to the same period in 2021, according to official figures released yesterday.

The value exported by Portuguese-speaking countries to the Chinese special administrative region between January and November this year was 958 million patacas (111 million euros), according to a statement from the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) quoted by Lusa.

On the other hand, the amount of goods imported from Macau by the Portuguese-speaking bloc fell by 74.2% in annual terms, amounting to two million patacas (233,000 euros).

The trade balance in November registered a deficit of 11.57 billion patacas (1.36 billion euros), said the DSEC.

Between January and November this year, the value of exports reached 12.7 billion patacas (1.4 billion euros), or 6.4% more than in the same period last year, and the value of imported goods reached 127.9 billion patacas (14.9 billion euros), a drop of 8.1 in annual terms.

The trade deficit in the first eleven months of 2022 stood at 115.2 billion patacas (13.4 billion euros), down 12 billion patacas (1.4 billion euros) on the same period last year, DSEC added.
