The Minister of Culture and Tourism hopes that the E-visa electronic visa platform, launched this Monday in Maputo, will serve to strengthen the fight against corruption, attract more foreign investment and boost tourism in the country.
Eldevina Materula stressed on Monday, at the launch of the platform, that a project is underway to insert tourist visas for the main tourist-sending countries.
"This system will simplify the process of obtaining visas to enter the country, fight corruption, boost tourism in Mozambique and increase the number of visitors and revenue. A project is already underway that aims to exempt visas for countries that do not present a high risk for Mozambique and that are of high interest to the state," said Materula, quoted by Rádio Moçambique.
The E-visa system, which will be operated by the National Migration Service (SENAMI), is expected to reduce bureaucracy, fight corruption, improve the business environment and encourage good governance.
The E-visa platform already has around thirty applications, and it can take up to five days for them to be issued.
