Coca-Cola inaugurates production line in Nampula valued at $14 million

Coca-Cola inaugura linha de produção em Nampula avaliada em 14 milhões de dólares

The Coca-Cola Mozambique company inaugurated a PET production line this week, as part of the company's global strategy to introduce sustainable bottles to the market. The initiative aims to strengthen the distribution capacity of soft drinks in the north of Nampula province.

At an investment of 14 million US dollars, the Nampula factory will contribute to job creation and economic development in the region and will cater to consumer preference for plastic bottles, which are lighter and easier to transport than glass ones.

Before the new plant was built, the northern region relied on products manufactured in the central region, more than 1,000 km away. The Coca-Cola factory in Nampula now produces around 14,400 200 ml PET bottles per hour, thus reducing transportation costs and CO2 emissions.

"We believe that with the installation of the new line there will be greater availability and diversity of products for our consumers," said Duncan Wyness, General Manager of Coca-Cola SABCO (Mozambique) SA.
