Renamo and MDM, Mozambique's main opposition parties, criticized this Thursday the country's position of neutrality in Wednesday's UN Security Council vote on Russia's annexation of Ukrainian territories.
Renamo, through its parliamentary spokesman, Arnaldo Chalaua, classifies the Mozambican government's neutrality as another sign of insensitivity towards the Ukrainian people.
"In practical terms, the position taken favors the invader (Russia) and goes against the constitutional dictates of our country," Chalaua told VOA.
For its part, the MDM, through the spokesperson for the parliamentary group, regrets that the Maputo executive has once again surprised in the negative.
"Unfortunately, the government is once again surprising us in the negative. Territorial integrity is a principle, not only of the United Nations, but also of our Constitution, and it is regrettable that this government ignores everything, in defense of unconfessable interests," said Fernando Bismarque.
