Mozambique and the European Union (EU) celebrated this Thursday the "success" of the partnership between the two parties, said the Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Veronica Macamo, in Maputo, alongside the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
It was highlighted the success of our partnership that results from a regular, comprehensive and balanced dialogue," said the official, at the end of a meeting between the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and President Filipe Nyusi.
"Relations are excellent" and the relationship "robust and long-lasting," he said, as quoted by Notícias ao Minuto.
As the largest per capita recipient of European aid in Africa, Mozambique has several open dossiers with Brussels, which have been reviewed, especially Cabo Delgado.
According to Verónica Macamo, "the latest developments" about the conflict were analyzed and Borrell lamented the six deaths caused in the most recent wave of armed attacks in the north of the country, including the death of an Italian missionary.
On the occasion, he added that the solution for peace is not only military, but must also be based on promoting the development and well-being of the population, areas that the EU also supports.
The EU is training Mozambican military personnel to fight in Cabo Delgado, and this Friday Borrell witnessed the delivery of equipment to those forces already trained to move into the north of the country.
