Musk, Bezos and.... Adani. Indian multimillionaire is already the third richest person in the world

Musk, Bezos e…. Adani. Multimilionário indiano já é a terceira pessoa mais rica do mundo

Indian billionaire Gautam Adani has become the third richest person in the world, taking the last place on the podium led by Elon Musk and with Jeff Bezos taking the silver. Adani thus overtakes the chairman of the luxury goods group LVMH (Louis Vuitton), Bernard Arnault, and became the first Asian person to occupy this position.

Adani's fortune is currently valued at $137 billion according to the 'Bloomberg Billionaires Index' cited by Executive Digest. Above the Indian billionaire are only the fortunes of Musk and Bezos, valued at $251 billion and $153 billion respectively.

At the beginning of April, India's Gautam Adani joined a very select group of multimillionaires with a fortune exceeding $100 billion.

Gautam Adani controls India's largest port, the Port of Mundra, and, together with French businessman Bernard Arnault, represent the only non-Americans with fortunes of at least $100 billion.

Adani controls several projects ranging from ports, mining, to space projects, and his fortune has increased by almost $90 billion during the pandemic. Shares in some of Adani's companies have risen more than 1.000% since June 2020.

The Indian billionaire also owns Abbot Point, a controversial coal mining project in Australia, whose Carmichael coal mine is considered one of the largest in the world. He also acquired a 74% stake in Mumbai International Airport, India's second busiest airport, in September 2020.
