The US Under Secretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy and Human Rights, Urza Zeya, will visit Mozambique and Namibia from today until Sunday.
According to a press release from the US embassy in Maputo, quoted by AIM, during her visit, the Under Secretary will promote partnerships between her country and Africa "on food security and refugee assistance, respect for human rights, strengthen democratic governance, and address wildlife trafficking."
The document explains that the Under Secretary will begin her visit in Maputo today, where she will meet with members of the government and civil society to discuss opportunities for progress in areas affected by violence, enhancing new opportunities under the U.S. Strategy for Conflict Prevention and Promotion of Stability.
"It will also highlight the important work the United States is doing with African and international partners to combat terrorism and human trafficking, strengthen the capacity of judicial and law enforcement partners, assist IDPs and people affected by violence, as well as promote food security, democratic principles, anti-corruption efforts, respect for human rights and religious freedom," the statement read.
