Among the abuses experienced by private security agents are: the non-payment of salaries and in some cases below the table approved by the Government, the non-channelling of the workers' Social Security contributions, and also the poor working conditions.
Olga Manjate is the President of the Labor Mediation and Arbitration Commission and guarantees that there is work underway to regulate the operation of these companies.
"At least until December, we will mitigate the problems of private security, from licensing the companies, checking how they are being licensed, if the companies have physical space, how they are treating their workers, channel the discounts to Social Security," announced Olga Manjate, quoted by RFI.
Earlier this week, workers from the private security company Guardian Security went to the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security to denounce their employers, particularly regarding the lack of wages, layoffs without severance pay, and failure to pay mandatory social security.
"We have record of companies that are paying below the minimum and those will be fined, those will be penalized. There is no way, we have the wage set by the government and there can't be a company that is paying too much below," he explained.
Other situations such as intense work weeks in the industry will be checked, including the lack of rest for private security guards.
