United States announces $427 million more in military aid to Kyiv

Estados Unidos anunciam mais 427 milhões de dólares em ajuda militar a Kyiv

The United States will give an additional $450 million in military aid to Ukraine to resist the Russian invasion, the White House spokesman in charge of national security issues announced Thursday.

John Kirby, quoted by Lusa, said that the support brings to "about 6.1 billion [dollars]" the total amount of military aid provided by Washington to Kyiv since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

The new assistance package will include an additional delivery of advanced rockets.

The military offensive launched on February 24 by Russia in Ukraine has already killed 4,662 civilians, according to UN data, which stresses that the real figures could be much higher. The conflict has also led to the flight of more than 15 million people from their homes, 7.7 million of them to neighboring countries.
