LAM (Mozambique Airlines, SA) carried a total of 48,175 passengers in the month of May 2022, against 36,646 carried in the same period of 2021, meaning a growth of 31%.
The four routes with the highest demand in the period under review were Nampula - Maputo with 8,442 passengers, Beira - Maputo 8,684, Maputo - Pemba 5,804, Maputo - Tete with 5,944 passengers carried.
It should also be noted that the national airline recorded, in the same month, an operational punctuality index of 74% in a universe of 871 departures, meaning an increase of 5 percentage points in comparison to the same period in 2021, where the punctuality index was 69% for a total of 588 departures.
However, when comparing with April 2022, there was a decrease of 4 percentage points, having had in this period a punctuality index of 78%.
Among the stopovers analyzed in this period, we highlight the stopovers at Chimoio with 94%, Tete with 87%, Nacala with 86% and Vilankulo and Harare with 85% respectively in terms of operational punctuality.
